A French, named Louis Neel had challenged Swedenborg and came up with a theory on ferromagnestism. Magnets have five types namely bar, lodestone, horse, ring and button. They are classified according to their different shapes and sizes. Others are made of iron and rock.
Magnets have made our lives easy and comfortable.. They are used in making microphones, electric motors, TV sets, computer monitors, speakers and much more. Magnetic compasses are also used in ships to keep them on right track. Jewelry and tools also have magnets. A television set has magnetic chips in their CRTs. A magnetic field is formed and with an electronic process images can be seen on the screen. Computer discs are also coated with iron which creates magnetic field and allows the disc to store data. In the field of transportation, magnets are used in bullet train tracks. ATM card or credit cards also have magnetic strip. Magnets are indeed crucial in our lives today.
